He is a member of the world’s top two professional golf tours, the US PGA Tour and also the European Tour. He has previously had the ranking of fifth in the world rankings. Poulter has been a golf player since the age of 4 turning professional at 19. Golf runs in the family with his older Brother also being a professional golfer.
In the early career of Poulter’s he was unable to find himself a private club, so he became an assistant pro and also became the golf shop manager at the Chesfield Downs Golf Club. The boss at Chesfield Downs Golf Club didn’t give him any discounts to enable him to play on the green at any cheaper price and was forced to pay the full green fee every time he wanted to play in any of the competitions. Poulter has been producing his own clothing label which includes his own Ian Poulter hats since the summer of 2007, naming the brand Ian Poulter Design, using his initials for a short label, IJC, Ian James Poulter.
